I used to wish I had popped for the full Akra system on day one and actually tried to but couldn't find anyone that would sell me one in California. I've since gone with an Akra slip-on (with db killer) and Arrow cat delete with Coober LM. I believe this provides more low and midrange while leaving the top the same. My fuel mileage did not degrade.
What data have you’ve seen to support it provides more low and midrange while leaving the top the same?

This guy has some good test videos with all the dyno numbers. I wish someone in the U.S. did all these tests. He shows some pretty impressive gains from my setup. I've been riding/racing my entire life and my butt-O-meter tells me I gained low and midrange. The bike pulls significantly harder down low. You can clearly see the improvements on this guy's dyno runs. He also tested different mid-pipes and it looks like the Arrow is the best one.

I’m sitting here scratching my head trying to figure out your response. So I reread you original post and realize I’m the idiot who totally misread what you said. I thought you were claiming the akra slip+arrow mid pipe+ coober makes more low and midrange than akra full system tuned.

I’m now realizing you mean your setup makes more low and midrange than STOCK without losing the top end like some dynoes have shown?

102 nm is impressive torque. I’d be curious to see same dyno/bike with full akra/tune. My guess would be similar numbers. Have you done the air box lid as well?

"I’m now realizing you mean your setup makes more low and midrange than STOCK without losing the top end like some dynoes have shown?" Correct. Sorry for not being clear.

I would love to see Pirate Racing dyno an Akra full system on an 890R. I'm guessing the Akra full system (with its overall shorter exhaust length), makes more power in the mid and top but not as much as my setup at 4,000 (assuming proper A/F on both). I believe my system would continue to gain above 7600 as well if we had a way to fix the A/F ratio in the open loop area above that. I have not and will not try the airbox lid. For me personally, the extra 1 or 2 HP is not worth the reduction in air filtration where I ride.

I only added a slip on because the factory sound of the 890 is sooooo flat compared to my 790 which sounds much better than any 890 even with the factory muffler. It was a real let down when I got it ... so I added a LeoVince LV-one to my 890R and I love the sound with the rest of the cat etc system stock.

No, not a problem at all ... the outlet is not straight with the muffler, but horizontal ... so parallel with the ground and the distance is great enough for the gases to mix with ambient air and cool down. The blinker is slightly warmer than the other but even in the summer heat never been a problem
