Either I'm the luckiest guy with a KTM in a 100 mile radius or the apocalypse is finding insteresting ways to make me rage and question the safety of the job.

I started on the muffler removal first. Then the shift side. There is absolutely no way I'm able to slide a torx into any window or lever position. It just doesn't allow it in any way.
Finally - when trying to take the damn thing out - I can't tell what was fighting me the most, luck or the damn clamp.

I have a transaver from Rotty, I still need to install that. Every manual I've read or watched all say the window is how you do it. There isn't anywhere that a tool would actually fit.

Lastly. The T50 on the swingarm. First tried to test by hand what I was dealing with. Hit it with the impact and nothing. Then I brought out the 3' breaker. T50 exploded. I think it is 20mm for a socket. Did that with the breaker and a mallet and got it loose. I hate those f'n exhaust clamps. I don't know how to put the lower one on or take it off. Wish there was a video for specifically that.

Anyone know of a write-up that might have dealt with the same issues?

Thank y'all

Thank you - giving it a watch and see if anything might help.

Edit - the only thing I need extra help with right now is removing the shift linkage. I need the bolts off at both sides to install the transaver. All instructions say to remove the bolt through the little window in the factory rearset.

Yep - learned the hard way and had a T50 explode. I took the stupid route and ordered woodcraft rearsets and just said f'it - going to get to them eventually, might as well.

Some photos show that it is so easy to get that bolt out. I went and looked a few more times - felt a bit dumb. Glad I'm not 100% alone though.

I have Woodcraft rearsets also. Those pictures on Rottweiler's instructions were taken on a 790 Duke which (apparently) does have that space to get to that bolt - but it's not the same on the 890 Duke R. Good luck. I had a friend help hold one side of the swingarm bolts while I loosened the other.

That is what I was going to try. Kind of cross straddle the bike. I don't have a 19mm open end wrench though - or even another 19mm socket.

Another thought - should you only take one side apart at a time - so, do the left first, cinch it up and the otherside would have something to bite and get that right bolt out ?? It would pull the pivot to the one side keeping stiction (not sure if that would work as an alternative metod)
