Windshield Options Out There

Where does Givi screen redirects the air?

No pressure in the chest area?

I’m 1.9m (6.3 ft) and no matter what windshield I chose, it will be too small to redirect the air above the helmet.

Maybe with one of the Puig screens (41cm or 51cm) I get better wind protection.

I'm curious as well! Not a huge fan of the MRA, but it is my second choice to the GIVI. I like the 790 without any screen to be honest, so smallest and best lined/look is what I would want, while still being functional. Is that opposite end of the spectrum or what? I'm used to tucking on an R1 when hitting higher speeds on the highway so as long as the screen can deflect most of the wind over me in a semi-tuck, I'd be happy.

Any info on the GIVI would be helpful!

Glad you posted that Tuomas. I Was thinking about the fly screen as I like the minimalist look, but the whole point is to deflect wind! I may be going with the MRA. I have decided between that and the Ermax but they don't sell the Ermax to US!

I have the Ermax, it's a great looking screen and reasonably effective at open highway speeds. Do you have any alternative supply options to the US? For stuff which isn't available in New Zealand for various reasons, the NZ postal service have warehouses in Portland, London and Shanghai. Stuff which I can't import directly gets sent to one of these warehouses and then transshipped to me - excellent arrangement. Anything like that for US customers?

By way of example, Sena won't ship helmet comms to private NZ customers because they have an (expensive) agency in NZ. I just buy them from a US source via eBay and give them the NZ postal service warehouse address in Portland and my unique identifier code. Cost me NZ$28 (US$18) to have the comms airfreighted to NZ.
I haven't done much digging to this affect, but may have to. I am really partial to the Ermax and am considering just waiting it out. I am actually getting used to the wind without the screen and I do much prefer the 790 without a screen. If it comes down to it, I may just bite the bullet and order an MRA.

Able to get the Ermax in the US! One place someone told me about on here can order it from France. I am in the process of that now. :)

Yea, that's pretty much perfect for me. Not sure I love the looks of the larger screens, although I'm sure they are functional.
This has been my dilemma for the past 9 months! I don't want a screen! Not in the least. I love the look of no screen. Honestly, I hate even the thought. But for me using my bike more as a commuter and a weekender, the highway wind is killer. I may end up getting it and posting a FS thread! Who knows. Figure I would give it a try and see how I like it compared to the look.

I got the PP screen mounted: too much buffeting for my taste at >120Km/h.
I'm 178cm almost evenly split between torso and legs.

I had to redo the screen screws after 300Km as many of them went loose.

The screen is very handy to put the numbers on :)

Yea I haven't pulled the trigger yet on a screen. I am dealing with the wind every day in place of the look of no screen. It's only a matter of time I guess!

Well, I put my money where my mouth is

Masked the edges of the Ermax sport screen and also masked the fixing holes to prevent blow-through. I then sprayed the shiny rear face of the screen with matte black enamel paint. I also attached some adhesive tape to the white part of the headlight to stop reflection onto the inner face of the screen. This latter mod may not be necessary and might remove it later. I haven't been out for a night run yet but tried it in the garage with the lights out and it's worked perfectly - no glare from the inner face of the screen now.

On the hour-long ride I did in complete darkness before doing this mod, the glare wasn't particularly dangerous, but it was distracting. I've done 5 Iron Butt 1600 km (1000 miles) in under 24 hour organised endurance rides on previous bikes. If I do one on the 790, I certainly couldn't put up with the original glare for 11 or 12 hours in complete darkness - it would drive you nuts.
So i am debating doing this prior to installing it so I don’t need to remove it and do it later. Dawned on me that you have a black screen, and I have a smoked screen. I believe that if I matte black the back, the front will come out black as well. I may have to fit it and see first.

I'd love to test the difference between your Ermax and mine. I have the gap in the middle and feel like it lets the wind cut to the chest easier than it would if it were filled in. I'm 6'4" though, so it probably wouldn't matter!
