Seeing a a lot more 790's around these days, thought it would be good to have a spotted thread.

Post where you saw a 790 on your travels and some details, please be careful, no doxxing, plates etc.

Hi there,

I cant believe this, I think this is 99% me.
(I came on here looking to see if anyone has posted anything about brake pads but I seen this and I had to sign up to reply.)

I'm pretty sure you pulled up to the left of me at those lights and I was ecstatic to see another 790 on the road? would that be correct?
:surprise:

Hahahah yep, that was me, welcome aboard

Thanks buddy.

Cheers for that also.

I love the bike but i've had issue after issue with it unfortunately.

Day one arrival the front brake light switch was DOA.
Day 3 I had a leak from the engine casing, ruined my right boot and headers.

Warped front brake disks... got this repaired under warranty quite quickly and was told I was lucky as someone has been waiting 3 months for brake disks to arrive.

Now the current brake disks have warped again.

I don't know how I feel about this. Bike of my dreams and i've put so much money into it its actually kind of a drag now and again with issue after issue.
I love the thing but its been a nightmare.

Hope yours is going well?

sorry to read of your issues
the front brake light switch should have been checked and replaced during PDI its a hydraulic one located on the top of the ABS unit under the tank, no once else has reported this issue.

oil leaks a few have been reported unfortunately, nearly all have been sorted quickly by the dealer network.

no one else has reported disc warpage let alone 2 sets!! I ride hard and 2 up mine are still good after 4000 miles are you running original pads?
Sorry to hear about those issues man, where did you get the bike from by the way? As in which dealer?
As like AOT says that brake light should definitely have been picked up in PDI.

You must be giving the brakes quite the work out to warp those discs, haven’t heard anyone else mention the issue yet. Are they the stock discs?

Nothing major on mine yet
I've had the same problems as SushiSmell, the brake discs were condemned in mid-August by my dealer, the stoplight switch went in July, neither replacement is in stock yet. I also had the oil discharge from around the gearbox sprocket but I think that was coming from an accumulation of chain lube under the sprocket cover.
KTM's spares and PP supply is useless, I suppose their staff are all working their 'taters off to get the Adventure models out for the show season.
I was told at the NEC show that the windscreen deliveries had been brought forward to Dec but they seem to have drifted back to Jan now.
Despite this I still love the bike though.

Good morning chaps,

The brake light switch was replaced but I had to wait a few days unfortunately and this was bloody day 1 - strange that this got missed...

Ive used the bike to travel over Europe and I commute on it daily, I’ve done over 4500 miles on it now from new, the brakes have been like this from new and its not making me happy since its been replaced as the same issues are happing again.

I don’t want to mention dealers but it was in London.

Stock discs, been replaced and the same issue is happening again. Ive had 3 bikes from new and never had warped discs. I’m a gentle rider and not doing anything I shouldn’t be in regards to braking - just normal usage really.

hi
so your mileage is not much different to mine but you have consumed 2 sets of discs, my original set is still perfect.

either there is a production/quality issue or something about your riding style hammers the brakes

to all forum readers HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD DISC WARP ISSUE ON A 790?

I am curious does you commute entail a lot of city riding?

Oh I’m quite gentle with the bike, not hammering anything just yet

Commute is about 17 miles each way with not much city riding, because of the warped discs my slow speed control is a bit ****ed unfortunately with judder.

I know what a pain this can be.
I am interested to see if other forum members have the same problem as you
Mental, have you/they considered the PP wave discs? I’d try get a free upgrade for the hassle, no harm in asking, worst they can do is say no, at which point I’d probably offer to foot the difference. Worth a punt supposed to be better quality.

Assuming they checked the pads, if they’ve glazed they could be causing issues no?

Hi there!

I got the bike looked over by my dealer and they have said to me that there isnt any issues with the front brakes and that they are fine... however I know 100% that they aren't ok in the slightest, i've had 3 bikes from new and it doesnt feel right.
I told them to make sure they take it out and try it with different speeds etc and take it out properly - (I reset the clock and they only done 1 mile as a test which has pissed me off).

I don't know what to do here now, where would I stand? (any advice would be great)

Id certainly be interested in a FREE replacement with the PP ones but I shouldn't have to fork out cash on something I didn't want to upgrade anyway.

I have the same oil leak look. I agree it seems to be the collection of chain lube under the guard. I should know next time I ride. I have cleaned it up and ridden a short ride that seems fine. The oil level never changed. Again I agree that it is probably chain lube but it sure looked like new fresh oil.
Here in Georgia-United States, I have the only 790 Duke I have seen. I have had it for approximately 1 month. That is about as long as they have been here in the United States. I got the first one that came to my local shop. I really like the bike.

Firstly consumer law changed significantly, so you require more patience than you used too.

If no fault is identified you are in a difficult position, they are the professionals and in a situation of your word versus theirs you probable would lose and court is a last resort.
If you have another dealer within commuting distance i would start by taking it for another opinion.

Brake disc warp or brake judder is normally very easy to get repeatability of fault, so i am surprised they claim not to notice it.
If you have a dial gauge with mount i would check the discs for warpage yourself
Another black Duke this morning, somewhere along the A3, R&G sticker on the side panel, obligatory head nod provided.
