As you write It looks better, but it's $125. the knock offs are half the price on ebay and Amazon. you can then remove the rear pegs and the grab bar if you don't carry a pillion.I bought the PP one and I think it was worth it with a DIY spray job
It isn't cheap, but then brand name aftermarket parts never are. I have the PP cowl, and I'm happy with it. Fits nice and snug. That said, I have no issue with trying AliExpress or eBay parts. I have a $50 no-name radiator guard from AliExpress, which fits great and is excellent quality.
I'm happy enough with the PP seat cowl, as I never intend to ride this bike with a passenger, and I like the way it looks. That said, I'm not sure the quality is that much better than a knockoff is likely to be. The edges of the plastic around the base are pretty rough on mine, and the paint scratches/swirls easily (and I'm someone who's pretty careful with cleaning, etc.) The fit is very good, fwiw.
On the other hand, the packaging on mine did indicate that it was made in Austria, if you prefer to support manufacturing in a democratic country. (Though, it's entirely possible that may have changed by now.)
This is usually the way I go, especially when I buy a new bike. We spent a lot on the bike itself, why adorn it with knock-off parts that don't fit or look as good as manufacturer produced bits for their bike? Don't get me wrong, I like saving money, but I also am pretty anal with my "upgrade" quality, fit, feel, etc.
Did anybody ever come up with a definitive way to smooth out the 790 at low revs (other than buying an 890!) One that doesn't bring up an error message on the dash, won't cost an arm & a leg and genuinely makes a very noticeable difference (so, not a Booster Plug!)
First of all thanks to the admins and members for making this forum a great source of information on the 790/890.
Does anyone know where I can buy a replacement dB killer / baffle for the 790 / 890 Akrapovic exhaust? Or if one is for sale by a forum member?
Akrapovic said via email...
Hi all, I picked up a new 2020 790 Duke yesterday. I'm beyond pleased with how it rides, but the thing gets damn hot! Does anyone else have issues with rider heat, and are there ways of mitigating this? How much of a reduction could I expect with the RS22 decat and ATOM setup?
First was better brake pads on the oem 790 calipers but not as good as brembos. Next was used Ducati 848 Brembo calipers and MC combo, which was huge improvement. Now for round #3 to complete the DIY 790R brake project is a new Pair of 320 rotors up front with some TI hardware and rear rotor...
Hello, any info on aftermarket pegs, with possible lowering potential will help my tired knees and also how to remove existing OEM pegs ? it appears you have to dismantle somethings to get at the pin.. any input will be appreciated
