Hi Gang, I'm new to this forum but currently riding a 2007 990 Super Duke. An awesome bike in it's own right but decided I wanted a bit more nimbleness so I ordered a black 790 Duke. It came in last week but dealer crashed it during set-up. They say its all cosmetic damage but some parts are not yet available here in the US. Will be talking to them this coming week to see what my options are.
At any rate, can't wait to get my new 790 but it sounds like my wait will be a bit longer.

welcome to forum, good choice but bad luck.
not sure I would want to take a repaired …

thought mine had a paint fault from new on the rear LHS subframe in the silver was a black splog
I took it replacement part took 4 months

on a more positive note you will find the 790 lighter, quicker, better brakes, lights in fact everything apart from you might find the ride a lot firmer

Welcome to the forum but sorry to hear your delivery has been delayed due to a dealer mishap. Be sure to give it a solid one over before taking delivery and get an items list of whats been replaced/repaired.
I wouldn't be accepting it.

unless your ok and then get bigger discount or some nice bits added

Still no. Not if I were buying new. I recently bought an ex demo and it has a few marks etc, but I bought as an ex demo. If buying new, I want completely pristine myself.

for me it would depend upon what was damaged and how big a discount

but I do get your point of view

for cars I would never take and repair on a new car, my wife's car had damage to the edge of seat I said new car replace the leather cover I would not accept repair.
bikes a lot more bits bolt on
One of the joys of buying a new vehicle of any type is knowing it's exact history, for me personally knowing "something" had happened but not exactly what would bug me.

If they're honest about it, can describe what happened and the damage appeared to match I may consider it for a discounted price, but if you were ready to spend the money on new anyway I'd probably just ask for a new one.
Crashed New 790 Update

So I decided to pass on the crashed black 790 and take instead, a pristine orange 790 (dealer is only getting one of each until later next year). Best they can tell me at the moment is that they will get the orange one sometime in December. Can’t wait but continuing to enjoy the 990 SD in the mean time!
Thanks for the comments.

I had a Superduke 990 from 2006-2010, great bike that just brings out the devil in you, but the fuel range was annoying as the reserve light would come on in about 80-90 miles. Fun though.
You will enjoy the 790.
