This weekend I installed a Magura Hymec 167 hydraulic clutch for my 890R. Since Magura does not currently offer a clutch for the 890R, I figured the model made for the 790 adventure bikes might work (same engine).

The install was straightforward but tuning was more difficult.
In order to get the clutch engaging correctly I had to use all four washers that came with it. When I used two (recommendation for the 790/890 adv), the clutch wouldn't catch until the lever was 90%+ of the way released. With all four washers installed the clutch released like a cable setup, ~40-50% of the way out. Magura specifies 4mm to 6mm (~1/32" to 1/4") of clearance when you yank on the end... it took 4 washers to get there.

Jury is still out on whether I will keep it or not, I want more seat time with it.

Pros:
Easier pull

Cons:
Had to cut/splice the 2x wires on the switch from the original clutch lever.
Mirror perch is the incorrect thread pitch for Duke 890R mirror's threads.
"Off road" version only, so the clutch lever is silver instead of black.

Removed:
Seat, tank/all connections(vent hose x2, ecu x2, quick connect fuel injector feed, 2x electrical), headlight/adjustor, front electronics cover to snake the new cable in place of the old, evap box + hoses.

Two levers are better than one?
