I joined the forum having yesterday ordered a new black 790 Duke, which I should get in a couple of weeks.

Going in part ex are my current bikes, a KTM 390 Duke and a Honda CBR600F.

I’m 65 and only passed my test in August last year, so making up for lost time!

Best regards, Graham.

Nice one Graham! There are people of all ages enjoying these awesome bikes, or planning to! I'm 57 myself, and hope to get mine in a few weeks too. Selling my 2016 Aprilia Shiver for cash to put towards the 790.

Have fun!
Mark
Great choices of bikes as they have friendly ergonomics. I have yet to see older riders on anything sportier than these.

Have you started looking at modifications and/or accessories as yet? If so let us know, always curious to see what new riders/owners get.

Welcome Graham, your a youngster still, I saw in November on the Facebook KTM Duke 790 group an American guy of 78 years who just bought a 790, coming down from a 1290R !

Hi all 790 owners - picking my Orange 790 tomorrow from Big Sky Motorsports in Missoula MT - Sold my 1290 Super Duke R - at age 78 figured it was time to get something a bit smaller, lighter and more "user" friendly.
Reading the many reviews it seems evident that'll be the case, though I must say I loved my 1290 and rode it for 4 1/2 years without so much as a single issue.
I/m ordering the Wings exhaust and Coober ECU combo along with the removal of that ugly rear license plate fender piece. Recommendations for a good looking tail piece gladly accepted. I've ordered my pillion cover and heated grips. Likely I'll find a replacement for the hideous US spec turn signals front and rear, and the mirrors. Other than that I'll keep it stock and enjoy it. Best to all

Hi Graham, you are going to love the 790. I'm in a similar situation: 62 years, rode a 390 for 3 three years as I got back into riding, and bought the 790 two months ago. I do a lot of city riding and was a little concerned about the additional weight of the 790. I can say you will not feel it at all. It really carries its weight well, and if anything is more agile than the 390. The 790 is actually about an inch narrower than the 390 (measured at the handlebar), so it filters/lane splits as well as the 390.
Greetings Graham, you appear to be in good company with some well seasoned riders here

Let's get it on record

Just to put all you kids into perspective I'm 79 and really enjoying my 790, I've had a week in France on it doing passes and gorges in Massif Central, Pyrenees and Alps. Brilliant, all I need now is a PP screen, originally promised for June 2018, now 'definitely' February.
Any advance on 79 then?

Thanks Mysta, the Barracuda screen looks good, it protects the clocks well. If my PP one is delayed again I think I'll go that way.
