One reasons for purchasing the Scapel was for the safety features it comes equipped with, the ABS, some gyro thingy, traction control etc. After speaking to riders I didn't really understand why they chose to switch 'all that crap' off, i'm happy that it might save me one day in a sticky situation. However now after my 1st 1'000 miles I think I know why switching the safety features off is a preferred option and its not just to look macho, it's due to the unknown, no one really knows how and when the safety technology will step up and save you so its considered better to just switch it off and ride not having think about it and to make no allowances.
Do you understand the safety features and can offer an explanation? Maybe you have an experience to share. Are you rolling into corners with pace and knowing exactly what will kick in and when or are you like me and thinking can I roll in this quick, will I get help or will it low slide, can you give all the gas in a corner and the back won't kick out? I have no clue, I only understand ABS, anti wheelie and traction control in a straight line however in corners with pace i'm clueless and considering switching it all off.
I would also like to add off topic here, this is a great bike with a soul, time and time I try to ride it with the intention of slow and smooth but the bike is cmon, cmon and it leaves me with no option, I'm convinced the Scapel gets off on being ridden hard, I also don't get that dirty, guilty feeling after a hard ride, i've not yet been left feeling I wont do that to you again, i will keep this one.
