Hi all,

Just joined the forum. Current KTM Ride is a 2016 690 Duke prior to that it was a 2001 640 Duke..... what a difference the 690 is. Looking to potentially update to a 790 Duke in 2019. So doing some investigate by reading posts.

Thanks ,

Paul

Hello Paul. Welcome to forum. 690 is an awesome bike. I really like it but if you should decide to get the 790 you will not be disappointed.
Cheers

welcome to the forum the 690 is fun but the 790 is huge fun I sold my 690 to get my 790 no regrets
I've owned several 690s, i didn't sell my 690 to buy a 790, but due to circumstances that's where i ended up :)

I'm more than happy with my decision :) Admittedly due to only buying it last week and winter now setting in here, i've not got many miles on the thing
Welcome to the forum Paul, glad to hear that you've set your sights on the 790. I think you'll find that most owners are very impressed with the new bike and you may be able to secure a good deal on one by next year.
Like others here I too had a 2012 690 & a SMT both now gone, and replaced with a 790.
If you get a test ride you will see that it’s wont be worth keeping the 690 as the 790 does it just as well and more.

Thinking about this i have already seen black friday deals on the 790 but my best guess is go along to a dealer a week before christmas and drive a hard bargin
They were saying in the news this morning that 9 out of 10 Black Friday deals are usually cheaper at other points throughout the year, especially after Christmas.

Not to say there isn't some good deals, they're just a lot more difficult to come by than one might think. Last year we got our coffee machine for less than half the price it is now and we kept an eye on the price throughout the year it didn't drop much at all by comparison.
does it make good coffee?
be careful we all might pop round for one

Hi mate and Welcome,
my other half rides a 2016 690,great bike but i think you would be werll pleased with the 790.It has the lightness of the 690 but non of the drawbacks of a single. If you havent already just take a demo on the 790 if you get a decent enough day. Im sure you wont be disappointed.
Sure enough a few members have had a few problems but these seem to get highlighted.I personally have had no problems with mine in a 1000+ miles,a few niggles but they seem to be sorting themselves out and as you know the 690 has its own but you just get used to them.
I to had an early Duke, the 620 and yes the 690 is light years ahead, but I did enjoy the 620,it was the first KTM I owned, and I havent looked back since.Been tempted a couple of times but have had KTM,s since and a few other makes to go along with them:)
Hope looking on the forum helps you make a decision. The best way is just to get a go on a 790 and see what you think.

Went for a test ride on the 790 on Thursday and loved it. Although it was sad to say good bye to the 690 the 790 is just so much more. I now have a 2018 Orange 790 in the garage with 826 miles on it...… just run in and first service completed. Looking forward to the warmer weather when I can get out on the new girl. The 790 was so easy to ride even on greasy winter UK roads. Looking to make a few mods over the coming months. Overall the 790 is much better than I am so looking to improve my riding skills and maybe a track day at some point.
