Hi guys, just wanted to introduce myself.
Bought a 2018 790 late November.
Absolutely love it.
Couple of goodies already thrown in.
I'm currently installing the AR RS22 with the Atom module and airbox "modification".
I'll let you know the first impressions in another post.
Hoping to see your beauties around!

KR, Gonzo

Wow, is that really an Austin Racing system?
It looks quite different to mine...🤔
The mounting bracket at the back is completely different and there’s extra welds in the system going down to the link pipe....have they changed the design do you know?

Hi owl, it just looks so different quality wise, although the photos we post on here are not the clearest to view (I added a photo of mine to try and compare)
But on gonzos I think it shows spring clips on the end can, yet that looks to be (and mine is) all one piece to the link pipe were the decat box would be....so what is the need for spring clips? also the hanging/mounting bracket (were the rear foot hanger goes) is one piece on all the systems I’ve seen and got the Austin Racing logo marked on it, and not in 2 pieces as shown on gonzos..... it just looks so different for what is, or should be the same system....just curious to understand why they seem to have changed a perfectly performing system quality wise?

Hey ph66, your image doesn’t seem to be loading properly for me for some reason. Could maybe try upload it to a host site like imgur. It certainly does look a bit different. On the AR site there appears to be two types of hangers, although one looks like a single and the other a double, it looks like two singles have been used, you can also see the springs although this is on the short one.

Definitely a bit odd, maybe something regulatory for Spain, although doubt it, interested to hear where mrxgonza purchased the pipes, was it direct from AR?

Hi guys,
Yes I noticed it looks different... I bought it used. It's a single piece all the way to the headers. Bit of a pain in the butt to install without peg-stands... I had to undo the bottom subframe screws and the bottom shock one to get it in.
Looks like I might have damaged the side stand sensor along the way as bike won't start anymore 😅😣
Have you ever had a similar problem? It powers through a cycle or two, then it cuts... Tried it with and without ATOM so can't be that.
Thx!

Hi mrxgonza, that is odd, and you say ‘one piece’ from the headers to the end? That must be a nightmare to fit!
Mine is the same as the bottom photo that owl posted, which is a link pipe from the headers which is a short ‘Y’shaped pipe that comes up through the swinging arm, then the end pipes (mine is a twin system) fits into the top of the ‘Y’ and each pipe runs at high level along the underside of the rear subframe as in the photo.
The ATOM is a separate fuel module that fits by the battery, and then a wiring harness that has to be fitted under the tank to connect into the ignition and fuel wiring.....it took me about 2-3 hours to fit the wiring carefully....and about 2 hours to remove the cat and old silencer and refit the new exhaust system....but both parts actually fitted very well, you just needed to take your time....
If you are having problems with it, I know Austin Racing are very helpful if you phone them, or if you like, I can sen you some better photos of mine if you send me a contact email address so I can send you better quality photos....😁

That newer version of the exhaust would've helped a lot, lol.
It took me around 1'30h to fit the loom for the atom and around two afternoons to fit the exhaust... Had to weld myself a couple of peg-stands to lift the rear so I could undo the shock.
I hope I can solve the starting issue soon, really want to try out the exhausts.
I hope they're not as crazy loud as they look (even with db-killers on), but they just look too nice to not have them 😁

Hi, at least it’s all fitted now, but I still can’t believe that they would design it that way, and make it so differently and difficult to fit...🤔...but at least it’s all fitted now...😁
It does sound like you may have damaged the side stand switch wiring if it doesn’t now work with the new wiring, or the original standard wiring....I hope you manage to fix it quite easily, and then test it out....😁 I will be interested to see what you think of the complete exhaust and wiring upgrade....it’s made a big difference to my bike in the midrange torque power....😁

Hello and welcome!
It's still pretty cold here in N. U.S.A., Illinois. We've got highs in the upper 30's ( around 3' F).
I just installed heated grips and a Ermax Sport screen. That's going to extend my season by about a month on either end.
That twin exhaust looks very nice.
Bottoms Up
