Hi all. Picked up an obligatory Orange 790 at the weekend. First KTM. Waiting on my power parts shopping list to be delivered.

Just came off an S1000R. Bike has nowhere near the same power but agility, looks, noise and grin factor more than makes up for it. More suited to back roads I ride.

Pondered a Street Triple but nearly fell asleep during test ride.

Sure turns heads like my old MV dragster did.

Can't wait to run it in & get it on.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the 790! What sort of accessories/parts are you waiting on?

You made a move i'm seeing more often which are people enjoying the peaks of big CC sport bikes to something more practical.
Went through it myself except that was with a CBR600R
Have you at least thrown a leg over a similar KTM prior to getting the 790?
Sorry for late reply, forum a bit slow in getting going I think, so haven't looked in in a while.

This is the first KTM I have ever slung a leg over. Bit late to the party but glad I've arrived.

Had all kinds of differing bikes over the years, culminating in the shear power of the S1000R. A bike, for the roads I ride 90% of the time, that made no sense really. Its capability was straining at the leash.

Don't get me wrong, that rush going through the gears was exhilarating but to use a thing like that on the road, the way it begged, was asking for it.

Plus I don't really tour. A 100 mile round trip is about the limit I like. Cruise control etc, was a great feature to have in a bike IF you toured.

I didn't really see the criticism about the S1000R lack of character till I tried a couple of other bikes again. going back to the S1000R after a test ride made me realise what everyone was talking about. A great bike but perhaps just a wee bit sanitized?

Once I rode the 790 Duke & its "only" 100-105 BHP, I was hooked. It's flickability, exhaust note, ride & looks won me over.
The few things that the S1000R was better at (breaking, power) are more than made up for in other areas.

Bikes are more than power and numbers.

Have made a couple of early mods. 3D printed collars so i can fit the Bar end type mirrors I like. Painted the in-the-face exhaust heat shield a satin black & added KTM stickers (till I make my mind up on what zorst to go for, Acra still looks bit big for my liking) & fitting a tail tidy this weekend. Waiting on all the Powerparts Ive ordered. Think that's going to be a long wait though.

Will post a pic after tail tidy added.

This happened to my blinker tonight due to my tail tidy, be careful!

Fitted mine last night & checked that issue. Test ride & no problem.

For the record, I fitted the R&G model & re-used the original indicators (I think they look great so no need to buy others IMHO). The indicators are tucked in closer to the bike centre, just either side of plate, keeping them out of the exhaust firing line.
