Hello everyone. I just picked up a 790 duke and I absolutely love it. But my bike came with the grab handle for the rear seat and I want to remove it. im assuming I need shorter screws since i wont have the grab handle anymore on the bike. Anyone know the part numbers for the screws that I need to replace on it?

If they are anything like the passenger peg screws then you do not need shorter ones.
My bike came with shorter screws in a bag.
Yup. Same as.... Well, techincally the opposite as mine had the rail not-fitted, but came with the other set :)

When I saw those screws I asked myself what the heck are these for? thansk for the answer!

O! I was wondering what those were for!!
I love grab handles on bikes, makes maneuvering them when you're off it so much easier. Never understood why people want to remove them.

I def. see the function, but being the 790D is so lite, (compared to my whale of a ZX014R), I actually prefer the 'form' on them removed. It's an aesthetic, and only personal opinion based.

I bought some screws to use to remove it, sa mine didn't come with them and I never asked the dealer for them. However, I completely feel the opposite. I like the look of it installed, plus I use it to lock up my helmet once in a while, and to pull the back end around if I need to. I guess I keep it on for the function more than the look, but I can see how the clean look is killer....especially with the rear seat cowl installed.
I'm trying to remove mine but even the shorter screws seem too long. Are there supposed to be spacers for them?

I had to put 8Mx1.25x25mm in the front holes, and 8Mx1.25x30mm in the rear holes. Someone else on this forum used 25mm in all 4 holes. Good luck

I'd only think about leaving the grab handle if the bike had a center stand. Without one, and being so light, I'll also remove it immediately. But I noticed the weird angle and holes on the bodywork, so wondering how it looks without the handle. Does anybody have some pics? And do regular 790s (and 890s) come with a seat cowl from the factory? I thought only the Rs, and same thing with the extra bolts and exhaust hanger. I'll have to buy one of those.

Is that the equivalent of an M10x1.25 bolt with 25mm in length, for us yanks? Thx.
I screwed up when I said m10 it's m8 by 1.25x25 I used 25 on all four I think other people used 20mm on the front and 25 mm on the back
