So I know this is probably something that is way out in left field, but this is my first fuel injected bike! :surprise:

I understand how it works and what to expect...but the whole power commander and mapping and ECU stuff is new to me and I am still a little confused by it all.

Anyone have any good write ups or know of any good sites to learn more about this? I do plan on doing some mods over the next year or two, including a slip on, so I am trying to learn what else I need to do when I finally decide to move forward.

Thanks in advance!!

You can learn the principles but it is a major investment to correctly set yourself up to produce a new map for your vehicle
Manufacturers spent a lot of time and money on this.

major mods really require a rolling road and dyno+exhaust analyser and software and computer to produce a bike specific map for best results pay someone else to do this for you

A decent overview/introduction to fuel injection tuning here. You'll quickly come to find how much easier it is to make adjustments on this bike over anything with a carburetor.
Thanks LC! I will spend some time reading up. Much appreciated!

I understand that. Don't worry, I wouldn't attempt to try to do my own mapping. I'm not looking to upgrade much. I will probably end up installing a slip on at some point and that will probably be it.

haha, that's awesome. I've had a handful of Honda SuperHawks, (2 carbs), as well as dirt bikes. FI is so smooth, I don't think I'll ever go back, especially with the gunky ethanol that wrecks havoc on carbs.

Dude, after having a FI bike for the last month+, I'm completely sold!! I just replaced a carb and petcock on an old CRF100 cause it was gunked up, and I had the same issue on the R1. Luckily my YZ250 runs real clean. Everything about FI I love so far....so much easier. I won't go back either!!!

I totally get it!

One thing I like to do, (being we have winter here in New York), is right when winter begins, to fill the tank with Race gas ie Cam2 etc. Keeps the carbs from gunking up during the down time. I'm selling my VTR, so soon this will only apply to grass trimmers etc.

FI is for sure, such a huge leap, after you've gone a life time with carbs, lolZ.

OMG Soooo true!!

I usually ran the engine dry, then fill the tank with gas, add some stabilizer, and hope for the best in three months! I guess I was doing it wrong!
