My Duke showed up on at the local shop on the 26th. I should be picking it up Saturday. Can't wait to get some seat time. Looks like low 40s for Saturday and Sunday..good enough!

went out for a 3 hour ride yesterday on my 790 it was 46F, did end up needing the heated grips after the first hour.

post some pictures when you collect
what options or mods are you considering?
happy and safe riding
I purchased the heated grips, bar end mirrors and a tail tidy so far. I will wait a while before I decide if I want to make exhaust and performance changes. I don't ride with a passenger ever so the passenger pegs will come off. I might think about a small screen once I get more information and feedback on what's available.

I put a GPS cradle and heated gear plug on every bike I own because I don't have a "proper" tourer, I travel on everything. That brings up the other item I need to think about: what type of bag(s) I will use when I take a trip. Maybe just a Kriega strapped to the rear, not sure until I have the bike and play around. One thing I did notice is that everything is very tight and enclosed so there isn't much to strap luggage to. I normally put a tank bag on every bike I own as well, but I'm not sure the shape of the tank is going to be very conducive to a tank bag.

Hi Shep, I am going touring next year on mine and the only luggage I will be using is a swmotech ‘Rear Bag’, tail bag, and maybe an evo tank bag, which are identical to the KTM branded stuff without the KTM badge. The tank bag is the fuel cap ring fitted type and minimal sized.

I'm familiar with those and was considering the same. I have the Evo Daypack tank bag now but will probably buy the Mini for the Duke. My question on the tail bag is how does it attach? If straps, where do you strap it? The bike is so "enclosed" at the tail end with no subframe exposed I don't see anywhere to attach the straps. That's why I was thinking Kriega: I can run those straps under the passenger seat. I'm even considering the panniers, but I'd like to see a photo of them on the bike first. I have some nice Mosko Moto duffels that I normally use but I'm not sure how I would attach them at this point either. By the way, I did remove my passenger pegs so to use those brackets to attach to I'd have to put them back on.

Thinking about a small screen too but don't see much info on them so far. I had a small screen on my Super Duke and it did help some.

Shep, the KTM manual shows strapping it to the body but uses a different bike as an example;

Thanks. Looks like I'd need to put the passenger pegs back on to strap it like down they did. I'll play around today with some of the items I have and see what I can come up with. I replaced the rear seat on my 690 with a Hepco luggage plate. I could always go that route if I have to...definitely doesn't enhance the looks though.

I'm going to order the small tank bag and will have to call to get the tank ring...here in the States some of these items are just now coming available. Twisted Throttle confirmed the part # for me but they don't have it on their site yet so I will call and order it next week. I've got at least 3+ months of lousy weather to plan!
I will not be refitting the pillion peg hangers, I will try routing a strap under the pillion seat. A bit of experimenting to see what works.

I have this on my 790 its tiny holds wallet bottle of water and nut much else

they do a larger one but is hides the display
I went ahead and ordered the Micro bag. I used the Daypack tank bag on my Super Duke and now on my Supersport. However, the 790 apparently mounts backwards compared to the others so just swapping the bag from bike to bike apparently won't be an option.

Managed to get out Sunday for 100 miles or so. It's not particularly nice out today but I'm going to try to put a few more miles on the bike.

I swap my bag between the 390,790 and 1290SDR it used to be on my 1290 GT as well

had to make a very minor mod to fit all of my KTM's

4 x small spacers
Good to know. Thanks. You've owned more of the range than I have! The GT was on my short list for a while.
