Oh yeah ok then.May be call it 790
That makes sense, if you don’t think about it..May be call it 790
sorry pgm, I was not trying to be smart. Just came out that way. Ktm either kill 790 and makes 890 base with basic suspension brakes and same engine ( better for mfg to keep cost down) or keep making 790 and 890R no price point in betweenOh yeah ok then.
#1. Who says I haven't already purchased an 890R?Those of us that have purchased the new 890 Duke R are VERY happy with the MSRP that KTM put on the bike. Sounds like sour grapes if you think we should be charged more just because you already bought a 790? Maybe you should have negotiated better originally, or waited for the 790 price drop?
I’m Not too bothered about having an 890r, if a base 890 was released I would think most of the bits of my 790 would transfer over and I’d have a better bike than the r.Those of us that have purchased the new 890 Duke R are VERY happy with the MSRP that KTM put on the bike. No one is suggesting that.Sounds like sour grapes if you think we should be charged more just because you already bought a 790? Maybe you should have negotiated better originally, or waited for the 790 price drop?
Perhaps its China vs Austria ( the 690 )#1. Who says I haven't already purchased an 890R?
#2. I did wait for a price drop on the 790 - it was $11,999 and I got mine for $10,599 ($8,000USD) and the $195 doc fee removed - very happy with that.
My point stands - silly pricing on KTM's part on the 890R - it's priced less than their own 690 SMC R sumo bike - how is a single cylinder bike with no bodywork, a 10 year old engine design, and a more basic electronics package priced more than the new 890R?
There's usually about 15-17% margin on new bikes, so dealer is cost is probably a little under $10000 on a 790No one is suggesting that.
Negotiating on the 790 revolves around factory to dealer incentives, as there is only around $500- profit built into msrp, (if I’m correct). The incredible deals that the people who waited, received, was due to rebates/incentives.
Due to the demand of the 890’s, and limited release, I’m sure dlrs will have little problem holding gross on these vs the 790’s.
Where dId you come up with 15-17%? That’s a pipe dream. There's usually about 15-17% margin on new bikes, so dealer is cost is probably a little under $10000 on a 790
I've spent 8 years at a Ducati store - same experience. Most mfrs were near 10%
I worked at a duc dlr as well, they had some of the better margins as I recall, and due to brand recognition, less room to negotiate.I've spent 8 years at a Ducati store - same experience.
New bike margins (cars, too) are pretty slim.
There goes our 790 resale values 😥. I know it's not KTM's fault. I see other manufacturers upping the CCs to compensate for EURO5, I get it, but still pisses me off 🤬
