I sold my Street Triple R and bought the Duke 790. I do miss the exhaust note on the striple, it had an sc project fitted and sounded incredible. Saying that I have a lot more fun on the 790 and don’t have any regrets.

Horses for courses. I’ve got the akra and it sounds better than stock in my opinion, but still not loud enough, will be removing the baffle as soon as I have a free weekend

hi
removing the midbox/decat gives a great sound even with standard silencer
akro plus no midbox is better
akro with baffle removed and no midbox sounded great but after 3 hours gave myself headache so I have refitted baffle

probably helmet dependant

Hi mate ,Welcome.Seems theres quite a few of us out there trading up or down for the 790.
Street Triple a nice bike though but I think the 790 is better.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new 790! With this bike have a good bit more power than any of its rivals in this class, I think we'll see a lot of people stepping down from more powerful bikes.

I'm also an ex street triple rider - mine was the 2010 black round headlight version. Fantastic little bike. I haven't ridden the current crop of more electronic streets, but I'm sure there's very little to choose in reality! The triple is a classic engine - smooth & grunty, with a different character to the new KTM parralel twin. I'll give my definitive view after the service when I've used all the revs, but my feeling is that in this sort of bike I prefer KTM's solution, however I totally appreciate different people have different likes. I have also had a Tiger 800 - truly great middleweight allrounder, to which the (longer stroke) triple is ideally suited.

I don't know how they've done it. It's powerful & smooth, but has great torque - and when you consider the size & weight of the unit it's incredible. Let's hope it's not at the cost of longevity/reliability!

Keep it rubber side down!!
