Newbie from UK

Allow me to introduce myself.

In my late 50s, owned many, many bikes over the last 40 years, but after a test ride on the 790, I had to order one.

My silver and black one will be ready for collection on the 8th September - it's going to be a long 2 weeks!

Welcome Tink, whereabouts in the UK are you based?
There's a few of us here, I'm South East and have had the Duke since June.
Hopefully you get it in time to squeeze in the last bit of summer riding before the wet/cold sets in.

I'm tucked away in South Somerset.

Starting to get a little chilly first thing in the morning, but looking hopeful for next weekend - collection day!

I've never had a new bike before, and I'm starting to get excited!

Welcome to the forum Tink and congrats on the new 790. Glad to have another owner in the community. Have you owned another KTM product before? We're seeing a lot of newcomers to the brand.

Silver and black one, with +20 mm ergo seat (I'm 6'3"), bar end mirrors, sat nav mount and small flyscreen (still not in stock though).

I had a 2006 SuperDuke 990 for a few months, but couldn't get on with it. Riding it slowly was like taking a Mastiff for a walk - all it wanted to do was accelerate. Trying to trickle through towns at 20/30 mph was virtually impossible. I tried a few things to ease the lurching, but nothing made any difference. Then there was the fuel range.....70 miles till the light came on.

On the test ride I thought the 790 was much easier to live with, but still took off like a scaled cat! Then you get to a corner

Good choice of options and colour :-)
The +20mm seat made a huge difference for me and the standard mirrors look poor and vibrate however the bar ends are great, just be careful when filtering not to catch it on a van mirror like i did.
i to am waiting for the screen to arrive, i am told November, i went for the larger of the two options hoping its not to big, but the smaller screen is very small like the screen on the 125 and 390 duke which looks good but.................
If you have not purchased the mount option yet i would consider the RAM mount as apposed to the KTM mounting system.
The KTM mounting system works well but puts your sat nav/phone low down in front of your display.
Look at my KTM in my garage and you will see the RAM mount
This uses the existing mirror mounting holes and places you phone/nav at a better height and angle to use in my opinion

Yes, you're probably right. Luckily the sat nav mount wasn't too expensive, so I reserved the right to change my mind.

Is there any room under the seat(s) for a disc lock or chain?
