Engine sound

Hi, new owner here with only 400 km on bike so far. This may be common to 790 Dukes but l find that my engine is very mechanically noisy at idle. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this ? Maybe it will quieten down after first service or with a few more kms up. Not a bad sound but something l haven’t experienced on my dozen or so previous new bikes. Thanks in advance, Magoo 😃

Its normal, don't worry!

There is an easy fix, but for that you have to change the can with Akra, Arrow, SC Project etc. and after that you need to remove the db killer. This will eliminate the strange sound from the engine at idle...and not only, but in general.

Cheers!

I found that the engine was a bit "tappety" on cold starts. Seems to be a bit quieter now that I have 3000km on.

I for one hate it. It is so **** loud I could barely hear the bike on the highway. My Remus fixed that though.

Keep the rubber side down!

Earplugs!

I have spent most of my riding life without plugs in. Mainly because I could find any that were comfy - even custom moulded ones. I use "Flare Isolate" now - pretty much always (maybe not a 5km trip to the bank). On a bike you hear a lot via the helmet and bone conduction but plugs will kill those rattly tappety sounds.

Small steps - Day by Day.
