790D racing

Hi all, newbie here, Going to pick up a new 790 soon to start racing. Competing with SVs, R5s, and Kramer's (690's so far) Hoping to have a lot of fun at least on this thing!

What's an R5 ?

TBH the class should be in your favour, that seems like a class that would suit the 690 and the 790 is a chunk quicker !

When is racing season ? Have you raced before ?

welcome to the forum and pending 790 ownership.

It will be interesting to see what mods you do for the track, please keep us informed of this and the racing

It's an expensive bike to start racing with and if you haven't raced before I would go to a few meetings first. Lots more to spend additional to the bike also. There is generally quite a learning curve but you must have done your homework. Would be a great bike to race good luck.

Yes, I have raced before. I am an expert level racer and instructor. I guess my initial post was not well worded! Sorry for the confusion. I am in touch with a tuner and looking for race parts as we speak. I was hoping to hear from others that have raced this in Europe.

Oh, The R5 question... The R5 is just a destroked R6 Yamaha.. A real chore to run with!

As far as i've seen no-one in the UK has. Several of us have used them on track, but not in racing from what i've seen. The problem in the UK would be which class to run in.
