Powerparts & Aftermarket Suggestions

Hey all,
Long time lurker, first time poster. After coveting a 790D since the prototype, I finally convinced the significant other to let me buy another bike. I went to the KTM test ride event, rode a 790D and it just cemented my decision. I also got a certificate for $500 in power parts, and I plan on buying this weekend.

My questions are as follows;
What are your top five suggestions for powerparts, and your top five suggestions for aftermarket parts?

Only caveats are that I have no interest in cases, and I am definitely getting a tail tidy.

Looking forward to hearing your suggestions!

Welcome to the group! Where did you do your Demo Day? I was at the New Jersey one, totally sold me.

Lesseee, for $500- you could get the front Galfer wavey rotors. If you're taller, the +20mm seat. The USB charger is a great addition. Quite a bit of stuff, so I'll let others chime in.

Hey J D,
I went to the one in Philly, then went and took a look at the revzilla physical storefront to look at some new gear. Me and a few buddies made a weekend of it. Thanks for the recommendations man, I appreciate it.

Welcome Dazed!

I think to answer your questions, the question I would have is what are you looking for? Performance mods or visual mods?

I did a bunch of mods, so top 5 I'd say is:

Tail Tidy
Exhaust
Radiator guard, Case sliders, & Frame Sliders (yes I grouped them all together!)
Rear cowl
Windshield (not yet done!)

More mods:
Bar end mirrors
Levers
LED signals
Wave rotors
Front Suspension
Power commander
Cat Delete
USB Port (among other things to support your phone/gps)

Keep the rubber side down!

Hey Chic,
So, I don't really have performance ideas in mind yet since I've only spent ten minutes on the bike. Right now I'm trying to figure out how to spend that $500 power part gift card, that I have to use the time of bike purchase. I'm planning on going either Friday or Saturday so I was hoping the form here would have some ideas.

So, you’ve got $500 to spend...

If you like the solo seat look:
Pillion Seat cover – $125
Silencer Bracket – $78 (if you want to lose the passenger pegs)

Protection:
Clutch Cover Protection – $75
Ignition Cover Protection – $75

Because I like it:
PowerParts Fly screen – $89

Yea I completely agree with this! Protection first IMO, then some mods to clean up the FUGLY tail section (pillion seat cover only PP offered) and definitely the windshield, though I'm not sure the fly screen is even worth the money. If you need to find something else, I might look at the bar end mirrors, but that will chew up $210.

My bike has the following:

  • Tail tidy
  • Heated grips (great for winter)
  • Rad guard
  • PP high comfort seat (+20mm)
  • Akra exhaust baffle removed (it’s all that was available at the time of purchase aside from the ridiculously priced Austin Racing ones, it’s grown on me and sounds great, may look at and sc-project in the future)
  • Roadlok disc lock (picked up cheap(er) from the states, still expensive, but my policy dictates I must always have a disc lock on when leaving the bike, so only having to carry around a pin rather than an actual bulky disc lock all the time is great)
  • Pillion seat cover
  • Mirrors (replaced with PP bar ends, then replaced with Rizoma)
Like above, may still get the SC-Project S1, and after seeing @dma ‘s levers they do look really nice, even with the ridiculous price tag.

Off that list, functional essentials for me personally would be heated grips and rad guard, aesthetic essentials would be mirrors, tail tidy and exhaust, I’m not a fan of the stock mirrors

Observation is the greatest source of wisdom.
